One person needs to volunteer to be the leader.
They have to map to take you from one side to the other.
No-one is able to speak to each other.
Each person can take a turn.
Begin by stepping on a square.
If this is the wrong square the leader can indicate without speaking.
Once you have stepped on a wrong square it's the end of your turn and the next person must try.
The aim is to get the whole group from one side to the other.
Teacher to emphasise the importance of communication and teamwork. Consider these questions afterwards:
1) How did you go about getting across?
2) How did you communicate?
3) How did not talking affect you?
4) How can you apply this to the way you work with your classmates?
5) What would you do differently next time?
6) What worked, what didn't?
7) How was another person's experience different from yours?
8) What helped the process? What hindered the process?
9) How did you decide the strategy you used?
10) What role did you personally play?
11) What critical elements of communication were used?
12) Why is it essential to work as a team/
13) What metaphors can you think this exercise might represent?
