A full stop is used to indicate the end of a sentence. If
you don’t use full-stops, then the sentence seems to go on forever and if
someone is reading it out loud, they won’t know where to stop for breath. A new
idea is usually put into a new sentence. Sometimes people think that full-stops
are not important, but when you get to Year 11, you will lose valuable credits
if you don’t know how to use them correctly.
Exclamation Mark
Use an exclamation mark to show a command. If someone is
telling somebody/something to do something. For example; He called to his dog "Come here boy!"
In this example, the man is giving his dog a command, therefore, an exclamation mark signals this. He was demanding his dog to come to him. Use an exclamation mark to show a command or to show that somebody is shouting. |
