How to Summarise
1) Read the text quickly to get an overview of what it contains. At this time, do not try to take any notes.
2) Re-read the text and try to think of a sentence that sums up each paragraph.
3) Check what you have written and cross out any duplicate words or phrases.
4) Re-write the summary neatly, editing and checking as you go. Note: A summary should be about 10% of the text.
5) Quickly read back over your work to ensure that it makes sense.
